Step1 lead in
1.Use pictures to show the function of body language.
2.Work in groups to discuss the question
Do you think the body language is important?
How important is it?(give some examples
Body language can help you pass the interview easily
Body language can help parents to understand what their babies really need
Body language can help to deal with different interpersonal relationship in some social occasion
And it can help to distinguish whether students are interested in the class or not

There are threein any face-to-face communicationwords, tone of voice, and body language. It is said that most of what we communicate with others is nonverbal. So

You cannot succeed in business and social encounters if you employ inappropriate body language. For example,someone too long can be interpreted as a threat, standing too close may causeand uneasiness, and touching your neck when talking to others probably                               that you feel nervous andconfidence.

或放在介词之后。

表语主要用于表述主语的特征,状态,身份等。它常在连系动词后,
构成系表结构。
系动词包括
1.be动词(am, is, are, was, were)
2.表状态变化的动词
(get/become/turn/keep/remain/stay)
3.感官动词(look, smell, hear, feel…)

定语主要用于表述名词或代词的品质或特征等

Give examples
1.Standing with one’s hands on one’s hips shows that a person is angry in many cultures, such as Malaysia, Argentina, and Mexico.
2. In Vietnamese culture, the head is considered the most important part of the body. Only parents or an important person can touch your head.
3. In Korean culture, one must be careful not to show too much emotion through facial expressions, except in very casual situations. Koreans may tend to distrust people who use exaggerated facial expressions, or may misunderstand what those facial expressions mean.
4. If a Lebanese person stands close to you, do
not feel that they are entering your personal  
space. Personal space is relatively smaller in
Lebanon and many other places.
In Korean culture, one must be careful not to
show too much emotion through facial expressions, except in very casual situations. Koreans may tend to distrust people who use exaggerated facial expressions, or may misunderstand what those facial expressions mean.
6. People of Puerto Rico move their noses to say,
“What’s going on here?”
7.In English speaking country, it is improper to
staring at the others or too long.
  • In China, host use smile to welcome their
guests, while the Indian of American use cry to welcome their guest.
  • It is polite to close your mouth when you are
eating food in American and Japan, while it is polite to open your mouth and chew in India.
