【语法提要】
1.miss
miss作动词,在本句中表示“错过”,后面可接名词、代词或动词-ing形式作宾语。
例句:Be quick, or you will miss the early bus.快点儿,否则你会错过早班车的。
I don’t want to miss seeing that film on television tonight.我不想错过今晚在电视上看那部影片的机会。
miss作动词还可意为“怀念;思念”。
She will miss him when he leaves.他走了以后,她会想念他的。
2.pick up在此意为“接电话”。
例句:Could you please pick up the phone for me? 你能帮我接下电话吗?
pick up的其他含义:
(1)pick up意为“捡起”,up是副词。如果宾语是代词时,要放在pick和up 中间。
例句:Pick the pen up,please.请把钢笔捡起来。
(2)pick up意为“用车接某人”。
例句:Will you pick me up at my house? 你可以到我家来接我吗?
(3)pick up意为“学到;获得”。
例句:They were picking up the skills quickly.他们正很快地掌握技术。
