Do you know what these signs mean?
S: Yes.
T: Look at the first picture. T: Can we talk loudly in the library?

T: What can you do at school or in the classroom? What cant you do?
Step 2 Presentation and Practice
  (1) Present the new words: classroom, hallway, dining room, fight, arrive late for class. Show some pictures of the new words on the screen. Have Ss read these words. classroom, hallway, fight, arrive late for class.
  (2) Flash some pictures quickly on the screen. Have Ss say the words according the pictures as quickly as they can.
(3) Show some pictures of different activities that are happening in the school.
  (4) Help Ss understand the school rules.
Task 1  I can learn!
1. Students finish this task according to Activity 1a. Have them fill in the blanks in 1a.
2. Encourage students to put up their hands to talk about other kinds of transportation in our life.
Task 2  I can listen!
1. Students have listening practice by finishing Task 2(1b).
   What rules are these Ss breaking? Write the numbers after the names.
  2. Check the answers. Praise the students who do the best.
3. Read the sentences in 1b together. Have the students know how to talk about the school rules .
Task 3  I can speak!
First, students read conversations in 1c together. Then they will make their own conversations according to 1a and listening materials to communicate with each other. Then, ask some pairs to perform their conversations before class. Praise the students who do the best.
   Make conversations with your partner.
   A: What are the rules?
B: Well, we can’t arrive late for class. We must be on time.
Then, the teacher can list some important words, phrases or some sentences on the blackboard. Explain them in details if necessary.
Step 3 Consolidation
Fill in the blanks.

First, check the students’ pronunciations of the new words. Make sure that students have the right pronunciations.Then, students finish these tasks.

1. Read the sentences in 1a. Change the sentences with we cant..
2. Work on 2a.  First,Give the students enough time to scan the activities.Then play the tape for the students to listen and check the activities Alan and Cindy talk about.
Task 2  I can listen!
   1. Students have listening practice by finishing Task 2(2a、2b).
2. Check the answers. Praise the students who do the best.
3. Read the sentences in 2a together. Have the students know how to use the target languageI cant go out? I have to …  ?   
Task 3  I can speak!
First, students read conversations in 2c together. Then they will make their own conversations according listening materials to communicate with each other. Then, ask some pairs to perform their conversations before class. Praise the students who do the best.
Then, the teacher can list some important words, phrases or some sentences on the blackboard. Explain them in details if necessary.
Step 3 Consolidation
1.Work on 2d.First, students translate it into Chinese. Second, students listen and repeat it.Finally, students role-play the conversation.
2. Put the following sentences into Chinese.

Step 1 Lead in

   Grammar Focus.
    First, students read Grammar Focus aloud together. Then ask students to translate them into Chinese and explain the meaning of each sentence.
Task 1  Imitate and Show
   After reading and explaining Grammar Focus, divide the students into some small groups and get the students to think of two or three more sample sentences using each structure in their groups. Then write down the sentences.
     After that, have several students represent their groups to read the sentences out. Check which group can make the most sentences that are correct.
Task 2  Let’s  practice!
Turn to Activity 3a: look at four pictures to write down the library rules and then check the answers.
Turn to Activity 3b: First, Ss read the title, catch the meanings.
Second. Ss use the given words to make questions & write answers. As the students work, move around the classroom checking if they need any help.
Finally, check the answers; report the answers to the class.
Step 3 Consolidation

T: As you are students, you have to obey the rules. Now if you have the chance to be a headmaster, what kind of school do you want to make? Please tell us the rules of your ideal school.
You can work with your group, ask and answer like:
A: Can the students….?
B: Yes, they can. / No, they can’t.
Report:  In our school, the students can …     They can’t ….  They have to ….                They don’t have to….   Do you like our school?
When they are doing this task, the teacher moves around the classroom offering language assistance as needed.
At the end of this task, invite some several pairs to represent their groups to express opinions according to their discussion. Praise them when they express their opinions bravely.

1. Listen and put an× for things Dave cant do and a for things he has to do. Play a second time if needed.
2. Check the answers like this.

Task 3  I can say!
   Have the students compare their answers in 1a with their partners. They can use the sample sentences in Activity 1b. Then ask some pairs to perform their communication. Encourage them if they express bravely.
    Task 4Time for listening!  Work on 1c
1. Students have listening practice by finishing Activity 1c. Before listening, help the students preview the content in the chart. Make sure they understand what they will do in the chart. Play the tape. Check the answers.
2. Listen again. Write when Dave has to follow the rules in the chart in 1b. Choose from the phrases in the box.
If the time is possible, read the listening materials in order to familiarize the students with the sentences .
Step 3 Consolidation
Turn to Activity 1d.Ask the students to make a new conversation using the information in the chart of Activity 1b. They should talk about the rules in Daves house. At last,ask some pairs to perform their communication. Encourage students more if they can express themselves bravely.
Step 4 Summary
Ask the students to finish the exercises according to what they learn in this period,then fill in the blanks.

Then, turn to Activity 2b. Before reading the passage, have the students guess the main idea of the passage according to the preview. Next, ask the students pay more attention to the reading strategy in the box.

have to与must的用法:
1.  must表示一种主观的需要,而have to表示一种客观的需要,意思是“不得不”。如:
I have to attend an important meeting this afternoon.
今天下午我不得不参加一个重要的会议。
Mother is out, so I have to look after the shop.
妈妈不在家,因此我不得不照看商店。
2.  have to的否定形式是don’t have to, 相当于needn’t。如:
They don’t have to buy a computer at present.
他们目前没有必要买电脑。
