Step 1 Lead in
1. Greet the students as usual.
2.Ask students how they get to school.

    S2:I take the bus.

Step 2 Presentation and Practice
   First, check the students’ pronunciations of the new words. Make sure that students have the right pronunciations.
Task 1  I can fill!
   1.Students finish this task according to Activity 1a. Have them fill in the blanks in 1a.
   2.Encourage students to put up their hands to talk about other kinds of transportation in our life.
Task 2  I can listen!
   1.Students have listening practice by finishing Task 2(1b).
2. Check the answers. Praise the students who do the best.
   3. Read the sentences in 1b together. Have the students know how to choose a kind of transportation.
Then, the teacher can list some important words, phrases or some sentences on the blackboard. Explain them in details if necessary.
Task 3  I can speak!
First, students read conversations in 1c together. Then they will make their own conversations according to 1a and listening materials to communicate with each other. Then, ask some pairs to perform their conversations before class. Praise the students who do the best.
Show some pictures to the students then ask them to work in pairs.
  A: How do you get to......?
  B: I take/ride/walk......  /I get to school...by.../on...    
Step 3 Consolidation
Ask the students to do group work.
    A: How do you get to school?
     B: I take the bus. /ride my bike/ bicycle/walk
     C: How does he /she get to school?

Step 4 Summary
Grammar:   Take the/a ...to+地点=go to +地点+by...
          Ride the/a bike+地点=go to+地点+by bike
          Drive the/a car+地点=go to+地点+by car
Walk to+地点=go to +地点+on foot
e.g. He often takes the subway to work.
=He often goes to work by subway
    Tips:   当home, here, there 作地点时 to 不要。

First, check the students’ pronunciations of the new words. Make sure that students have the right pronunciations.
Then, students finish these tasks.

Show some pictures. Ask and answer like this:
    T: How does she get to school?
    S: She walks. / She gets to school on foot.
    T: How long does it take?
    S: It takes twenty-five minutes.
    T: How long does it take you to get from home to school?
    S: It takes me 20 minutes to go to school by bike.
T: How long does it take you to get from home to school?
S: It takes me 10 minutes to go to school by bus.
Task 2  I can listen!
1. Students have listening practice by finishing Task 2(2b、2c).
2. Check the answers. Praise the students who do the best.
  3. Read the sentences in 2a、2b together. Have the students know how to use the  target language “How long does it take?  It takes …?” “ How far is it from…to …  Its …”
Task 3  I can speak!
First, students read conversations in 2c together. Then they will make their own conversations according listening materials to communicate with each other. Then, ask some pairs to perform their conversations before class. Praise the students who do the best.
Then, the teacher can list some important words, phrases or some sentences on the blackboard. Explain them in details if necessary.
Finally, role play 2e. Ask several pairs to read the conversation and then explain some language points.
Step 3 Consolidation
1. Fill in the blanks according what the students learn in this period.

2.句型转换

Step 1 Lead in
Greet the students as usual.
1. Have a dictation of the words what they learned in last lesson.
2. Have a free talk about how to go to school , how long and how far.
Step 2 Presentation and Practice
Grammar Focus.
First, students read Grammar Focus aloud together. Then ask students to translate them into Chinese and explain the meaning of each sentence.
Try to recite it.
Task 1  Imitate and Show
   After reading and explaining Grammar Focus, divide the students into some small groups and get the students to think of two or three more sample sentences using each structure in their groups. Then write down the sentences.
    After that, have several students represent their groups to read the sentences out. Check which group can make the most sentences that are correct in each tense or structure.
Task 2  Let’s  practice!
1. Turn to Activity 3a: Match the questions with the answers. First give students several minutes to complete the task individually. Then check the answers .
2. Turn to Activity 3b: Use the words to make questions and ask them to answer. As the students work, move around the classroom checking if they need any help. Have one student read his or her work first. Have other students correct mistakes if any.             Finally present all the correct answers.
Step 3 Consolidation
Task 3  Discussion
   Divide the students into some groups. Discuss to find who lives about five kilometers from school and so on. Have them make a list of those students after discussing in their groups.
When they are doing this task, the teacher moves around the classroom offering language assistance as needed.
   At the end of this task, invite some several pairs to represent their groups to express opinions according to their discussion. Encourage them to think more and speak more even though there may be some mistakes in their show. Praise them when they express their opinions bravely.
Step 4 Summary
1.In this period, we consolidate the usage of some sentence patterns. And we practice sentences using some structures.
2.The teacher show the pictures to students and ask students to answer the question “How do you go to school?” one by one.
Then do another exercise. The first student say “I go to school by ……or I take……to school.”,then the second student say “He/She goes to school by……or He/She takes……to school.”
  3. Translate the sentences.
  1).从你家到学校有多远呢?
  2).从医院到邮局要花费你多久呢?
  3).骑自行车到达学校要花费15分钟。
  4).你的最好朋友是怎样上学呢?

  1. Copy the new words and prepare for the dictation next day.

Say something about the pictures one by one.
For example:This is a train station. Trains stop here.
                  This is a bus stop. Buses stop here.
                  This is a subway station.
                  This is a bus station.
                  (Ask students to repeat these words.)
  Let students open their books at page16 to match each phrase with a picture. Then check the answers.
Task 1  I can say!
Have the students compare their answers in 1a with their partners. They can use the sample sentences in Activity 1b. Then ask some pairs to perform their communication. Encourage them if they express bravely.
Task 2  Time for listening!
1. Students have listening practice by finishing Activity 1c&1d. Before listening, help the students preview the content in the chart. Make sure they understand what they will do in the chart. Play the tape at least twice. Check the answers.
2. If the time is possible, read the listening materials in order to familiarize the students with the sentences .
Step 3 Consolidation
Task 3  Lets try!
  After listening, its time for students to have a try. Turn to Activity 1e. They should make a new conversation using the information in the chart of Activity 1c. They should talk about how Bob get to his grandparents home. At the end of this task, ask some pairs to perform their communication. Encourage students more if they can express themselves bravely.
‘First he …. Next he …. Then he ….’
Help students form groups. First one student asks, then the other students answer. Please use the words first, next and then.
Step 4 Summary
This class we've learnt some key vocabulary and had oral practice. After class ask your parents how they get to offices. Next class I'll ask some of you to report to the class.
