Eg: He could not bear to see anyone in pain or even to hear of it.
I shall defer replying till I hear from home.

- In 40 years he had never produced the masterpiece he longed to paint.
long to do sth. 渴望做某事
Eg：He has longed to join the NBA since he was a little boy.
- The janitor found him lying in bed helplessly with pain yesterday morning.

【lay】 VS 【lie】
Lay（laid, laid, laying）：means to put, place, set. You lay a book on the table, put or set it there; you lay your head on a pillow.
【放置，躺下；打赌；产卵】
Lie (lay, lain,lying): means to rest, recline, be situated. You lie on the bed, rest there, recline on it.
【躺，卧，位于；伸展；谎言】
- Suddenly I felt myself quickly drawn up to the surface of the sea; and I heard these words: “ If master would be so good as to hold onto my shoulder, master would swim with much greater ease.”
【Draw up】 拟定，起草, 停住, 画出
draw upon 利用，开发，总结
Eg： He would talk to them and then drawupon his extensive network to find them a job or get them a break

【倒装句】
Scattered on the floor were several books and magazines.
[半倒装] 只将谓语中的助动词/ 情态动词提到主语之前；
[全倒装] 主语和谓语完全颠倒过来。
- I would never again take my home for granted.
我再也不会不把家当回事了。
【take ...for granted】 不关心，不注意；认为......是理所应该的
Eg：He’s so busy with his work that he takes his family for granted.
【动作动词】描述动作，可用于一般时态和进行时态；
【状态动词】描述状态，一般不用于进行态。
