1. be of + 抽象名词=be of + adj。这类名词常有:importance, help, use, value, interest, significance, necessity, quality

2. be of +表种类,数量,度量的名词,名词前常带冠词。这类名词常有size, weight, shape, colour, age, length, depth, type, price, width

3. be of +根源关系的名词。这类名词常有family, race, origin, blood

表语从句
1.引导表语从句的连接词有:
(1) 连接代词:what, who, whom, whose, which等。
(2) 连接副词:when, where, how, why等以及 that, whether, as if/ though, because等。
The question is whether we can finish the work in time.
问题是我们能否及时完成这项工作。
It sounds as if someone is knocking at the door.
听起来好 像有人在敲门。
The problem is who we can get to replace her.
问题是我们能找谁去替换她。
2. 表语从句的特殊句式:
(1) This/ That/ It is because/ 那是因为……,because 引导表语从句。
His father has heart disease. That is because he has been smoking too much.
他的父亲有心脏病,那是因为他抽烟太多了。
(2) That's why那就是……的原因,why 引导表语从句。
That is why everything is becoming meaningless.
那就是一切都变得越来越没有意义的原因。
(3)The reason whyis that……的原因是……,why 引导的定语从句修饰先行词reason, that引导表语从句。
The reason why I was sad was that he didn't understand me.
我难过的原因是他不理解我。
语法解析
语法:it的用法
一、it用作代词
1. it用作人称代词
1)指代前面的名词或前面提到过的事。
2)指代性别不明的childbaby
3指代未出场的、身份不明确的人。
My friend offered me a beautiful gift yesterday and I like it very much.
我的朋友昨天送给了我一件漂亮的礼物,我非常喜欢它。
-Who is waiting for you at the bus stop?
-I have no idea. It may be my brother.
——谁正在公共汽车站等你呢?
——我不知道,可能是我的哥哥。
2. it用作非人称代词
1)可以表示天气、时间、距离、自然现象、环境等。
2)也可以表示一般的笼统的情况。
3it 可以指代指示代词this, that或不定代词something, nothing
It is a fine day today, isn't it? It's ten o'clock.
今天天气很好,对吧?现在十点钟了。
Whenever she sees something that she likes, she goes and buys it.
每当她看到喜欢的东西,她就会去买下来。
二、it的其他用法
1. it在句中做形式主语
it做形式主语,通常用于下列句型:
1it +be+形容词+for somebody to do
2it +be+形容词+doing
3it +be+形容词+that (在此种情况下,用虚拟语气should + v. )
4it +be+过去分词+that
5it +be +名词+that (名词有pity, honor, shame, wonder等)
2. it在句中做形式宾语
it做形式宾语,通常用于下列句型:
动词+it +形容词/ 名词/ doing +for somebody to do/ that从句(常用的动词有 think, believe, suppose, consider, feel, make, keep)
3. it用于其他句型
1It remains to be done + 从句
2It hits/ strikes/ occurs to somebody +从句
3)动词appreciate, hate, love, like, dislike +it +if/ when +从句
4)动词短语depend on, see to, answer for, ask for后跟that引导的从句做宾语时,中间需要用形式宾语it
5)用于“动词+it+介词短语+that从句”中。
taking it for granted that 认为……理所当然
owe it to somebody that 把……归功于某人
leave it to somebody that 把……留给某人
keep it in mind that 把……记在心里
三、it引导强调句
1.句型的基本结构:it is/ was +被强调部分+其他成分
1)此结构中的it没有具体意义,只是引出被强调部分。
2此强调句型只能强调主语、宾语、状语,不能强调谓语。
3)强调时间状语、地点状语、原因状语用that,而不能用when, where, because
4)强调的部分是人时用who,强调的部分是事物时用that
2. 强调句型的时态
1)如果原句中谓语动词的时态是现在或将来时间范畴的时态(如一般现在时,现在进行时,现在完成时,现在完成进行时,一般将来时,将来进行时,将来完成时等),强调句型的时态为“it is+被强调部分+that/ who+其他成分”。
2)如果原句中谓语动词为过去时间范畴的时态(如一般过去时,过去进行时,过去完成时,过去将来时等),强调句型的时态为“it was +被强调部分+that/ who+其他成分”。
3)强调句型的疑问形式。
强调句型的一般疑问句形式:Be +it+被强调的部分+that/ who+其他成分。
强调句型的特殊疑问句形式:特殊疑问词+be +it +that/ who+其他成分。
