Step-1 Warming Up
| Teachers will write the heading “Art” on the board and below it, write the following questions:
- Can you list some artists you know?
- Can you say some masterpiece you know?

Step-2 Lead-in
| This step is to lead the students to the topic--Masterpiece.
- What do you see in the following paintings? Use the phrases below to help you. Do you like them? What are the names of the three paintings?

Step-3 Pre-reading
| Teacher will give a question as following: read the description of the three paintings. Underline the name of each painting and its artist. Find out what each painting is about.

Step-4 Fast-reading
| Read the article and find out what the main idea of each paragraph.
| 通过泛读,能够让学生对文章每个部分有初步了解,锻炼学生对文章表层含义理解,养成良好的阅读习惯,提高阅读技能。并且帮助学生组织语言回答读前问题。

Step-5 Careful-reading
| - Read the three descriptions again. Use the diagram below to help you take notes. Then talk about each painting.
- Sort the expressions into the correct columns. Use them to practise introducing the paintings.
- Look at the three paintings and read the first paragraph of each description. Do they have anything in common? If so, underline the words and phrases in the descriptions that show their common features. Explain your opinions.

Step-6 Post-reading and Homework
| - What’s your opinion of the three paintings after reading the descriptions? Do you like or dislike them more? Give your reasons.
- Suppose you are a volunteer at an art exhibition. Introduce one of the three paintings to the visitors.
FOCUS ON LANGUAGE: NOUN CLAUSE
- Read the sentences and answer the questions.
- Combine the two expressions using a subject clause, an object clause or a predictive clause. Then write a complete sentence.
- Rewrite the underline sentences in the following paragraph using noun clauses.
HOMEWORK
Read the quotes. Discuss the feature of good paintings.
