School had just started in August when Conner began throwing up for no reason. It wasn't long before the boy also began suffering terrible headaches. In February a 1.7inch tumour was found in his brain and Conner was set to receive radiation treatments (放射疗法). Before treatments start, technicians make a white plastic mask (面罩) to keep patients immovable and protect unaffected parts of the brain while radiation is directed at the tumour.
It's an unpleasant experience and a frightening time. The doctor Cook decided that the masks could at least be made to look like something fun—maybe Batman or Mickey Mouse. “I started thinking these masks are white and not fun at all for kids,” she told The Greenville News. “I felt like if we could make them a little more fun for them, they might be a little more excited about coming in for the treatment. Because the kids are afraid. While the treatment itself isn't physically painful, it can cause a lot of anxiety. And the treatment is required daily for up to six weeks.”
And the masks really make a difference. “The kids really like them,” Cook said. “It makes what is—let's face it, a terrible experience, a nice experience because they get to choose something themselves.”
When new children come in for the treatment, Cook finds out what their favourite movies or cartoon characters are. Then she sets about creating the mask by drawing the image she wants onto paper, sticking it with glue, and once it's dry, she applies the colours using paints. Each child can take the mask home once the treatment ends.
“Going to the doctor always means fear and pain. I wanted to make it fun,” she said. “The kids really love it. It's something they enjoy and can relate to. And it fills an interest I have. I get great pleasure from it.”

After bikes and umbrellas are made sharable across China, some companies started eyeing the fitness market, so shared gym rooms have hit the streets in Beijing.
Unlike common gyms that provide large, open spaces for many members to share at the same time, the newly built shared gym rooms are small, standalone rooms for a person to use, often set up near living communities.
Every foursquaremeter room is equipped with a treadmill (跑步机), an air cleaner, a mirror, a television and an air conditioner, and users can let down the curtains for privacy. When exercising, users can listen to music, watch movies and check emails by connecting to the Internet by the screen fixed on the treadmill. There's no shower or wash basin.
Similar to using a shared bike, users can locate a shared gym room by smartphone application, book a room in advance and then need to scan (扫描) a QR code for use. A refundable deposit (保证金) of 99 yuan is required, and users are charged 1 yuan every 5 minutes.
The shared gym rooms are created by Misspao, a Beijingbased technology company founded in July. Within several months since it was founded, the company has already raised over 100 million yuan, Yicai Global reports. The idea of the shared fitness experience is not entirely nascent. Last December, the Shanghaibased technology company VRUN set up shared treadmills in office and apartment buildings.
The sharing economy is still becoming popular in China. According to Yicai Global, confident investors are pouring millions into sharing startups. In March, the State Information Center published a report which predicts that the total value of China's sharing economy will see a yearly growth of 40% in the coming years, and it is expected to make a great contribution to the country's GDP.
28.What makes the shared gym room different from the common one?
A.Offering open spaces.
B.Standing in the living zone.

D.Having some advanced equipment.

A.Use a smartphone.
B.Pay 100 yuan first.

There are usually few things people want to do less than housework. But while washing the dishes and dusting the shelves can seem like troublesome (令人烦恼的) things, a new study has shown just how important they are to senior people's general health and happiness.
In fact, scientists now believe cleaning the home is more important to older adults' mental and physical health than other factors, such as the area they live in or how much they earn. Researchers at Case Western Reserve University say the housework is beneficial because of the exercise it takes to get the daily job done, which in turn affects mental health.
Dr Wright, at the university's Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing and on a research team wanted to find out how income, education, environment and health behavior, like smoking and exercise, affect an older person's health. The study's 337 participants, from 65 to 94 years old, had to have at least one chronic (慢性的) illness. They also had to have physical problems that prevented them from doing at least one basic daily task, such as bathing and dressing.
Dr Wright said she was surprised to learn that housework affected the participants' physical and mental wellbeing more than other factors. “House cleaning kept them up and moving,” said Dr Wright. “A clean environment is helpful in treating some illnesses.”
The study provided evidence that Wright had found in her visits: people living in a chaotic (混乱的) environment seemed less satisfied than those in a place that was neat and tidy. Wright hopes the study shows how important it is for older adults with disabilities and chronic illnesses to continue physical activities, such as doing stretching exercises, standing up and sitting down in a chair.
32.What can we infer from paragraph 1?
A.People are too busy to do housework.
B.People do less housework than before.
C.People have difficulty in doing housework.
D.People don't think highly of doing housework.
33.How do Dr Wright and her team do their research?
A.By choosing weak participants.
B.By curing participants' illnesses.
C.By observing participants'behavior.
D.By limiting participants' moving areas.
34.What's the effect of the living environment according to Dr Wright?
A.It can affect one's feelings.
B.It can reshape one's character.
C.It can change one's lifestyle.
D.It can influence one's hobbies.
35.What does the text mainly tell us?
A.The proper ways to do housework.
B.The advantages of doing housework.
C.The hidden meanings of doing housework.
D.The different attitudes towards housework.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面的材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time lying on his back. The men talked for hours continuously. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their experience in the army, where they had been on vacation. Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those onehour periods when his world would be broadened and enlivened (有活力的) by all the activities and colors of the world outside.
The window overlooked (俯瞰) a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans (天鹅) played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm among lowers of every color. Grand old trees made everything around more attractive, and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque (如画的) scene. One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade (列队) passing by. Although the other man couldn't hear the band, he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window pictured it with descriptive words.
Days and weeks passed. One morning, the nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. Later, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Finally, he would have the joy of seeing it for himself.
注意:续写词数应为150左右。
Slowly and painfully, he made his greatest possible efforts to look out of the window beside the bed._________________________________________________
