文本简析
　　本阅读材料的话题是交际中的肢体语言，作者从三个方面讲述了肢体语言的特征与作用，通过主题句和举例阐述的方式让读者了解不同文化中肢体语言的相同或者不同的意义，并从更抽象、概括的维度深入认识肢体语言的特点，理解肢体语言的作用。基于肢体语言的特点，作者提醒读者在与人交流中，尤其是当文化背景有差异的时候，要使用得体的肢体语言，尊重、理解和包容不同的文化，进行有效、有素养的沟通。
　　文本共由六个段落组成，篇章结构为“总—分”。第一段用简练的语言引出了话题，并且从我们自身表达的需要和了解他人感受两个角度讲述了肢体语言的作用。第二段阐述了肢体语言的第一个重要特点——肢体语言在不同的文化中有不同的内涵——这也是文中写作篇幅最大的一个要点，最为重要。通过讲述肢体语言的这一特点，作者向读者传递了要尊重不同的文化、要使用与所在文化相宜的肢体语言。文章的二、三、四段均围绕这一要点展开。为了说明肢体语言的这一特点，第二段中作者讲述了不同文化中视线交流的不同，列举了中东国家和日本的情况来说明。第三段中的主要支撑例子为OK手势，除了我们所认知的意义，OK手势在一些国家，例如日本、法国、巴西和德国等有截然不同的含义，甚至在一些国家有侮辱性。第四段中讲述了我们最常见的用点头、摇头表达是与否的肢体语言在一些特定国家是不一样的，以及不同文化背景中人们交谈时彼此的距离，见面或告别时采用的方式也截然不同。第五段的内容为作者讲述的第二个肢体语言的特点——有一些肢体语言在世界各地有相同含义。作者通过两个具体的例子进行了说明，目的在于告诉读者有一些肢体语言的含义在全球是通用的，进一步表明了肢体语言的重要性。第六段的内容为肢体语言的第三个特点——有些肢体语言本身有很多不同的用途。作者用“smiling”的众多使用场合和不同的用途进行了说明，这个要点同样向读者传递了肢体语言在表达中的重要性。
第1课时
一、教学内容
　　整体理解文本的主要内容、写作意图，梳理篇章结构，画出文本结构图。侧重细读第一段至第四段，提炼其中的文本信息及其中的语言、文化知识，思考文字背后的深层内涵。
二、课时目标
　　1. 通过预测、略读、寻读等阅读技巧，梳理全文的篇章结构，掌握文章主旨大意，了解肢体语言的功能和文化差异性。
　　2. 通过自主阅读提问和小组合作等活动，培养学生的逻辑思维、表达能力以及团队合作精神。
　　3. 利用结合现实知识等方式由表层信息了解深层内涵，思考肢体语言的特点对现实生活的指导意义，体验文化差异，提高逻辑思维能力和评判性思维能力。
三、教学过程
　　Activity 1 Activating the background knowledge of body language
　　本活动为实现课时目标1做铺垫。
　　Ask groups of students to act out the sentences on the screen without speaking. The others guess what they are communicating.


　　【设计意图】导入部分采用互动游戏模式。教师事先把需要表演的内容分成四组分别写在四张纸上，让自愿上来表演的各组学生代表抽取。各组准备1分钟后依次进行表演。1分钟内猜对最多用时最短的小组获胜。

　　Activity 2 Brainstorming the content of the text
　　本活动为实现课时目标1做铺垫。
　　1. Students look at the picture on Page 38.

　　1. Students skim the text and look for the topic sentence in each paragraph.
　　2. Students discuss in groups and draw the structure of the text.


　　【设计意图】学生快速阅读寻找每段的主题句，并借此梳理文本的篇章结构，画出段落结构图，从而更好地理解全文。

　　Activity 4 Reading and asking questions

　　Students read paragraph 1 and put forward some questions that they think are important, and also tell them to offer answers.

一、教学内容
　　复习上节课所学内容，深入理解学习课文五、六段，同时在细读全文后，完成概要写作，内化所学文化、语言知识。

　　1. 通过小组展示、自阅读提问等方式，进一步了解肢体语言的特点，发掘肢体语言的重要性，指导现实生活，锻炼学生的合作能力、表达能力和逻辑思维能力。
　　2. 通过略读、扫读，梳理全文的篇章结构和各部分的主要内容。
　　3. 通过抓主题句、改写、整合、修改、示范等方法，初步掌握概要写作的要求。
　　4. 通过给外国朋友提建议，将课堂所学与生活需求相结合，锻炼口笔头表达能力。
三、教学过程
　　Activity 1 Checking the homework
　　本活动为实现课时目标1做铺垫。
　　1. Students go over the text by retelling the content with the help of some key words.


　　2. Ask students to present Assignment 2.
　　Act out a situation where people use body language to communicate but cause misunderstanding.
　　If the other students don’t get the point, point out where the problem lies.
　　【设计意图】学生通过复述回顾课文，巩固所学知识。小组展示的目的在于让学生熟悉课文、理解课文传递的信息后，学着跳出课文、联系生活，去体会肢体语言在生活中的运用，尤其是不恰当使用身体语言带来的尴尬和误会，从而将课堂所学融入生活，指导生活。

　　Activity 2 Focusing on the similarity of body language
　　本活动旨在落实课时目标1。
　　Students read Paragraph 5 and answer the following questions.

　　Activity 3 Finding out the different uses of the same body language

　　Students read Paragraph 6. Think and write down some questions that they think are important, and also tell them to offer answers.

　　Activity 5 Giving advice to a foreign friend
　　本活动旨在落实课时目标3。

　　S1: You should shake hands with your friends instead of kissing them on the cheek.
　　S2: Don’t stay close when you talk to your friends.
　　S3: We don’t use OK sign for zero.

　　【设计意图】肢体语言从生活中来，还需回到生活中去。让学生给外国朋友写信是希望学生能充分使用学到的知识。之所以把外国朋友设计为法国人而非英美人在于课文提到了法国人不一样的肢体语言，有助于学生学以致用。此外，英语也是法国人的必修外语，符合语境。
