Step 1 Lead in

T: I also have my favorite star. Can you guess who he is? Let me describe him for you.

T: In this class, we will learn to talk about people’s looks.
(Show the learning aims and ask students to read together.)
Step 2 Presentation and practice
1、Ask students to work in groups to discuss where we should use “is” and where we use “has” when we describe people’s looks. And then ask students to show their result.
  • 2、1)、Show some pictures and ask students to talk about the persons in the pictures using the target language.

B: He/She is…, and He/She has….
2)、Say From today on .we’ll learn how to describe people’s appearance . Write the title of Unit 7  What does he look like ?
3、T: I have a good friend. Her name is Amy. Look, this is Amy. Now she comes to the station to meet her friend. But there are so many people. She can’t find her friend. Can you help her?      Ss: Yes.
T: Listen to the tape. Work on 1b. Help Amy find her friend, Ok?
Ss: OK.  (The teacher plays the recording. Then check the answers.)
Step3 Consolidation

2.Guessing(1c)

1.Make a report  Let Ss take out their pictures, and then describe these cartoon boys and girls
2.Then teacher asks one student : T: What do you look like?Teacher helps the student answer the question : I’m short . I’m thin. I have long hair. I wear a white T-shirt. .        
Step 2 Presentation and practice
Task 1  Chain game
    Let Ss ask one by one in a group. Learn to describe themselves. The teacher begins:  T: What do you look like? S1: I’m thin. I’m tall. I have black hair. What do you look like? S2: I’m short. I’m heavy. I have short hair.  What do you look like?
S3: I’m …..  S4:…
  Then The teacher lets Ss ask the next group: T: What does he look like?  S1: He is…, he has….  What does she look like?
S2: She is…, She has…..    S3:…
Task 2  Grammar Focus:
What does he look like?
He’s really tall.
What does she look like?
She has long straight hair..
What do they look like?
They’re of medium build..
Do they have straight or curly hair?
They have curly hair.
Is he tall or short?
He isn’t tall or short. He’s of medium height.
Let Ss read it together ,then read it in groups.
Show the Chinese on TV, let Ss speak them in English.
Task 3Look at some photos of stars; Just say one word to describe the stars:
e.g.  IsYao Ming tall or short?  He’s tall..                
Is Han Hong heavy or thin?  Sheis heavy.
     Does Yao Ming have short hair or long hair? He hasshort hair.
Does Fan Bingbing have long hair or short hair? Shehas long hair.
Pay attention to:“is” and “has”.
注意:
一般选择疑问句:
句型:一般疑问句+or +被选择的情况?
e.g.: — Are you a teacher or a student?你是个老师还是个学生?  
— I'm a student.  我是个学生。

2.Listen to tape again and fill in the chart. Finish Section A 2b.
Step 3 Consolidation
Language Points:
1.What does he look like? 他长得什么样子?
  1) like可以用作及物动词, 意思为“喜欢”,后面可以接名词或代词作宾语。
e.g. I like my family.  我喜欢我的家庭。
  2) 但在这个单元里like是介词, 意思为“像”, “像……一样”。
e.g. He is like his father. 他像他的父亲。
look like  看起来像……
e.g. That man looks like a teacher. 那个人看起来像个老师。
    3)要询问“某人长得什么样子”就应该用下面这个句型。
“What do/does … look like? ”  回答就应说出某人长相的特征:
e.g. He is very tall. 他个子很高.
Is he tall or short? 他高还是矮呢?
2.He isn’t tall or short.   他不高也不矮。
英语中在受到否定概念限定的部分一般不用and而用or。这里的or相当于and not。 如:I don’t have any brothers or sisters我没有兄弟姐妹。
注意:这里用的是 or 而不是 and.
